Configuration Management Lead (m/f/d)

Salary: €90,000 - €114,000 per annum

Introduction

Our client, a prominent European agency specializing in meteorological satellite operations, is seeking an experienced Configuration Management Lead to manage and oversee their Configuration Management (CM) Competence Area. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring effective configuration control for satellite systems and ground infrastructure to deliver accurate weather and climate-related data to users worldwide.

The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the development and improvement of CM policies and processes. This position offers a unique opportunity to impact cutting-edge technology in a dynamic, international work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership and Management:

• Oversee the Configuration Management (CM) Competence Area, ensuring the availability of skilled resources, tools, and expertise.

• Lead a team of engineers and analysts, providing direction, support, and performance management.

• Policy Development and Implementation:

• Define, implement, and continuously improve CM processes for technical departments and programs in development and operations.

• Align CM policies with organizational needs, international standards, and best practices.

• Operational Support:

• Deliver regular Configuration Status Account Reports and relevant metrics to monitor CM processes.

• Support Change Control Boards and ensure smooth management of changes across programs.

• Audits and Training:

• Conduct configuration audits for contractors in new developments to ensure adherence to CM requirements.

• Organize and deliver CM training and awareness sessions for staff and stakeholders.

Skills and Experience

Required:

• Minimum of 10 years of proven experience in managing Configuration Management processes and leading multidisciplinary teams, preferably in a technology-intensive domain.

• Expertise in defining and implementing CM policies, objectives, and procedures.

• Demonstrated experience leading large teams, managing performance, and ensuring skill continuity.

• Proficiency in supporting or running Change Control Boards.

• Strong problem-solving, process modeling, and monitoring skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.

Preferred:

• Experience within the space or satellite sector or an international public sector organization.

Qualifications

• University degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, preferably in Aerospace or Information Technology.

• Fluent in English (mandatory), with beginner-level French being an advantage.

• Salary: €90,000 - €114,000 per annum.
