Job Description (English)

Excelloit’s client, a prominent international organization in the automotive industry, is looking for a Senior Network System Engineer to strengthen their global IT team. This role offers a chance to work on innovative IT projects, supporting the client’s global IT strategy across their operations worldwide. You will be part of the "OneIT" team, which unifies IT functions such as infrastructure, service management, business applications, and project management.

In this position, you will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing network solutions within a complex, global environment, ensuring stability and innovation in network operations.


Key Responsibilities

General

  • Assist the team with budget planning.
  • Develop enterprise solutions in the network area.
  • Design and implement network concepts.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
  • Communicate with local contacts worldwide.

Strategy

  • Design and support the development of a group-wide network strategy aligned with the OneIT objectives.
  • Contribute to overarching strategy development.

Project / Change Management

  • Independently lead projects (cost, quality, time, lessons learned) to enhance network infrastructure.
  • Take on project management and consulting tasks.
  • Ensure adherence to service management and change management protocols.

Operations / Service

  • Operate, maintain, and administer the global network infrastructure.
  • Resolve incidents at the 2nd and 3rd level.
  • Implement, configure, and maintain solutions and complex infrastructures.
  • Provide technical consulting to departments.
  • Evaluate and select products and service providers with cost-efficiency in mind.
  • Manage external service providers for service and escalation management.
  • Identify savings and optimization opportunities within your area of responsibility.
  • Perform maintenance and support tasks, including collaboration with third-party manufacturers for problem resolution.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor system updates, upgrades, and other changes.
  • Ensure complete and up-to-date documentation, guides, and operational manuals.
  • Evaluate new technologies and contribute to the development of standard hardware and software products.
  • Ensure sustainable operation of the global network infrastructure.

Your Profile

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in German and English communication.
  • Strong knowledge in firewall management.
  • Familiarity with Network as a Service concepts.
  • Technical engineering skills in:
    • User requirements analysis and implementation.
    • Switching / Routing (OSPF, fiber optics, WAN, LAN, WLAN).
    • DMZ services.
    • Network monitoring (PRTG).
    • Networking protocols (IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, DNS).
    • Manufacturer-specific knowledge (Fortinet, Extreme Networks, Cisco).
  • Project management experience.
